Chancellor's Inauguration Set for April 4
The inauguration of Chancellor Marty Meehan is planned for Friday, April 4 at 10 a.m. in the Campus Recreation Center. All faculty, staff and students are invited to attend.
The inauguration will be preceded by two days of campus forums, academic seminars, guest speakers and activities designed to highlight the University and its programs. They will culminate on inauguration eve with a fundraising gala at Allen House, with proceeds to benefit student scholarships, followed by a concert in Durgin Hall.
A Campus Steering Committee, chaired by Associate Chancellor Jacqueline Moloney and Chief Public Affairs Officer Patti McCafferty, is charged with planning and organizing the inauguration and accompanying events. Other members of the committee include: John Davis, Brian Andriolo, Emily Byrne and Deme Gys, Advancement; Jean Robinson, Athletics; Prof. Kay Doyle, Clinical Lab and Nutritional Sciences; Prof. James Canning, Computer Science; Prof. Jim Nehring, Education; Prof. Robert Malloy, Engineering; Tom Miliano, Facilities; Prof. Yash Puri, Management; Prof. Paula Telesco, Music; Mary Lou Hubbell, Public Affairs; Rick Sherburne, Special Events; Brenda Evans, Student Affairs; and Steve Holstrom, student representative. An honorary inauguration committee, composed of members of the Greater Lowell community, will be announced at a later date.
The Campus Steering Committee is encouraging feedback about inauguration plans from the University community. Forward any ideas or suggestions to any committee member. Additional details will be announced as they become available and a University inauguration website is being created for the posting of the most up-to-date information.
